Pulcherrima Lindl. var. buyssoniana Seidenf. & Smitinand) (Fig. 79) is a terrestrial species producing silvery green leaves spotted with purple, up to 25 x 9,5 cm. Inflorescences form erect, many-flowered racemes that reach up to one meter high. Flowers are about 4-5 cm in diameter and are pink, the lip and the column being darker. This species, with its 76 chromosomes (twice as in other species in the genus) has long been considered as a tetraploid (4N) form of Phal. pulcherrima (2N with 38 chromosomes).

Fasciata is glabrous while Phal. reichenbachiana’s one is densely hirsute (hairy) and, finally, the scent of Phal. reichenbachiana is musty or moldy while Phal. fasciata’s perfume reminds you of a green apple. Phalaenopsis luteola Burb. A. Christ. & Gruss is a lithophytic taxon known to be from Borneo but its distribution is poorly known. Leaves measure up to 20 x 5 cm with inflorescences forming arching racemes about the same length as leaves. Two to three flowers appear on inflorescences. Petals and sepals are pale yellow, with irregular brown marks (bars and spots).
